After a few weeks of reflection on all the cool collaboration and festivities at our annual Partner Summit, the Faction team is excited to share some highlights. This springtime event is a gathering with our
favorite partners where we share the latest updates and happenings from Faction. This year did not disappoint and was jam-packed with company news, partner testimonials (stay tuned for blogs and videos), plus some good ‘ole fashioned fun. The Summit took place in Vail, Colorado, where the mountains served as a spectacular backdrop for the sky-high initiatives we’re rolling out throughout the remainder of 2016.
Kicking off the two-day Summit was Faction’s CEO and Founder, Luke Norris, who held his much anticipated “state of the union” address. Now, before we delve into the usual (read: boring) news, we must thank our partners. This year, Faction grew 49% YoY because of you, our customers and partners, who have worked tirelessly to promote the Faction cloud and ecosystem. Because of your success, we succeeded – so thank you and congratulations!
As Luke noted in his annual address, this year should be coined the “Year of Data Gravity.” Gravity—which is a concept that, in its heyday of exploration, continued to grow and develop with understanding (thank you, Einstein)—now acts as an ever lasting and omnipresent force. Data shares a similar significance. Much like gravity, data is pulled through every facet of our existence. In fact, the volume of data created is growing significantly: 40 zettabytes (43 trillion gigabytes) of data will be created by 2020 – an increase of 300 times from 2005 – and it’s estimated that 2.5 quintillion bytes of data are created each day. The velocity of the data that is created is also important to consider. By 2016 it is predicted there will be 18.9 billion network connections – almost 2.5 connections per person on earth. Finally, there is a lack of data portability, which translates to rates and data growth exceeding the speed in which you can actually move it.
Luckily for us, we are in the data business, and the biggest hurdle we face as an industry is control and access to that data. Data, though, is hard to control. We could list of plenty of reasons for this, but for the sake of saving time let’s just name a few: data does not move at the speed of light (again, thank you, Einstein); data rates change swiftly and are therefore not easy to control; and, even if the previous two obstacles were addressed, moving data seamlessly and on-demand is expensive. As the need for network capacity grows, so does the need for data storage. In fact, according to 451 Research, the number one obstacle from a data storage perspective is capacity growth.
Well…drumroll, please…Faction has you covered.
As a company, our collective 2016 goal is to solve that ever-growing, omnipresent data “problem.” The products and solutions that Faction will be rolling out will absolutely differentiate us. As big data becomes the digital age version of a gravitational force, Faction will be at the helm, allowing our partners and fellow service providers to navigate and explore –with no compromises and no exceptions. We believe in a hybrid, multi cloud strategy, which acts (and will continue to act) as a differentiator for you and your customers. In a universe where everything is connected, your cloud should be too.
Over the coming weeks, we will share more highlights from this year’s summit, including highlights and videos from our partners—stay tuned!
Don’t forget to follow Faction’s news (trust us, you’ll want to be the first to know). Continue reading our blog and follow us on Twitter and LinkedIn for the latest and greatest. Until next year, thank you to our partners for helping create and evolve the ecosystem of success in which Faction flourishes. Cheers to a lucrative and innovative 2016!
