Derek Pilling becomes CEO and Faction transitions to employee owned company

We began powering and operating Dell Technologies Cloud Storage for Multi-Cloud Solutions.

We launched Hybrid Disaster-Recovery-as-a-Service.

We launched Cloud Control Volumes and were approached by VMware to be a part of the VMware Cloud on AWS beta program.

We rebranded from Powered by Peak to Faction. Armed with investments from major organizations like River Cities Capital Funds and Dell Technologies Capital, we connected with hyperscale cloud providers and got to work on new offerings.

We opened new data center locations across the U.S., each chosen for proximity to major cloud providers.

We expanded into new areas of business, filed for patents, and had our first big VMworld appearance. Luke participated in a VMworld Demo Competition and won first place presenting a new “C-Mode” architecture.

We began offering hosted and private clouds, and received our first round of funding.

Luke Norris founded Elementek LLC in Denver, Colorado. He saw an opportunity to offer small and medium-sized businesses better economies of scale and help them gain access to expensive solutions by outsourcing discrete functions of IT. What started as a small desk at a datacenter consistently experienced triple-digit growth year after year. In the first four years, we rebranded to Peak Colo, then to Powered by Peak after acquiring several large customers.
